These vary by instrument. The 400's are scheduled online using the "reserve" program.  The 600 and the 800 have an online schedule page at http://kunmr7.chem.ku.edu/cgi-bin/nmr-schedule.cgi.  Approved users are added to the schedule by request.  The 500 is run by an autosampler, first come, first served, no schedule except by prior arrangement (for instance, if you have an unstable sample and want it run immediately after dissolving it, we will set up an appointment with you).

The Malott Avance 400 (a.k.a. "florence" is the most restricted instrument. Prime time runs from 8:30 am to 8 pm weekdays, and signup is not permitted until 4 pm the previous day. From 9:30 am-3pm, no user can reserve, or use (no matter who reserved the time) more than 30 minutes, either in one block or multiple blocks. From 8:30-9:30 am and from 3-8 pm, the maximum is one hour. Users may have both a one hour block and a half hour block in the same day, for a total of 90 minutes maximum. Prime time reservations made before 4 pm are deleted from the schedule without notice. Experiments which are longer than the maximum permitted are truncated without notice.  The time between 1 and 2 pm is available for first come, first served walkup use, no advance reservations, 10 minutes per person maximum.  From 8 pm -8:30 am Mon-Sat., and all day Sunday, there are no restrictions on the length of an experiment and users can sign up as many as seven days in advance.
