Photo: Doug Koch, KU University Relations The Mass Spectrometry Laboratory (MSL) is a research resource with a primary mission to provide service in chemical analysis by mass spectrometry to research workers in the University and to educate investigation on the uses of mass spectrometry as a research tool. Laboratory personnel are always available to discuss the capabilities of the laboratory, provide advise on what method should be used and discuss the interpretation of results. The MSL is part of the Molecular Structures Group, a campus wide consortium made up of the NMR, MSL, X-ray Crystallography, and Molecular Graphics and Modeling laboratories. The Mass Spectrometry Laboratory is routinely utilized by a number of
departments including: Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Molecular
Biosciences and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The lab serves a wide variety of
roles from support of small molecule synthesis to analysis of whole
proteins isolated from organisms. |
