After a short training session, customers of the Mass
Spectrometry Laboratory can run their own samples on
the LCT Premier and the Quattro Micro GC. Self
run samples are less expensive, have less waiting time
and are good experience for real world problems. Please contact Bob Drake
or Lawrence Seib for training.
Samples are introduced into the Quattro Micro GC via the Agilent 6890N
gas chromatograph equipped with an auto sampler. Thus samples used with
this instrument need to be fairly volatile and should contian few active
hydrogen's. Data analysis includes searching the NIST library. For more information see Micro GC operating instructions
and GC derivatizations
The LCT Premier introduces samples via an autosampler
with no intentional separation. The electrospray ionization
source is soft enough to preserve delicate molecules
however it may have trouble ionizing certain species.
The LCT is equipped with a lock mass and is set to a resolution
high enough to perform exact mass experiments when ions of the
proper intensity are selected. See the LCT
operating instructions and the LCT
FAQ for more information.
